Violet Red Bile Agar Used for the detection and enumeration of coliforms in milk, food and other materials.Violet Red Bile Dextrose Agar (VRBDA) is a highly effective culture medium specifically designed for the identification and enumeration of intestinal bacteria, with a focus on Enterobacteriaceae. This medium is crucial in food safety testing and clinical microbiology, allowing researchers to accurately assess bacterial counts in various samples.

With a final pH of 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25℃, VRBDA offers optimal conditions for cultivating target bacteria while suppressing the growth of contaminants. To prepare, simply suspend 39.5 g of the medium in 1 L of deionized or distilled water, boil for a maximum of two minutes, and cool to approximately 50℃ before pouring into sterile petri dishes. This straightforward preparation method eliminates the need for autoclaving, making it accessible for laboratories of all sizes.
